New Business Owners
You have started the process but still need the education, structure, and resources to establish your business foundation.
Licensed but Not Yet Operating

You have taken steps toward opening your business but recognize that important systems, processes, or business fundamentals were missed.
America’s older population is growing, and many adults want to remain in their homes as they age.
In 2024, the United States had approximately 61.2 million adults age 65 and older. A national AARP survey also found that 75% of adults age 50 and older want to stay in their current homes as they age.
This growing need is reflected in the workforce. Employment for home health and personal care aides is projected to increase 17% from 2024 through 2034.
Home care ownership offers an opportunity to support families, create jobs, and serve an important community need. However, opportunity alone does not build a successful agency. Responsible ownership requires education, planning, compliance, strong systems, and consistent implementation.
Home Care Coaching helps aspiring and early-stage owners begin building that foundation.

Learn About Licensing Support
Non-medical home care helps individuals remain safe and independent at home through services such as personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, and support with daily routines.
A home care agency coordinates these services by serving clients, managing caregivers, scheduling care, and maintaining the business systems needed to operate responsibly.
For aspiring owners, understanding the business is an important first step. You should know what services you plan to offer, who you want to serve, how your agency will generate revenue, and what licensing requirements may apply.

Home care licensing requirements vary by state. Some states regulate non-medical home care agencies and require a license or similar state authorization before an agency can operate. Other states do not require a state-level home care agency license for certain non-medical home care services.
For purposes of our licensing support, a regulated state is a state that requires non-medical home
care agencies to complete a state licensing or approval process before providing covered services.
Requirements vary by state and may include applications, policies and procedures, background
checks, administrator qualifications, insurance, inspections, or other compliance steps.
